In the final game of the Muskegon Basketball Showcase, Curie was in control pretty much the the entire time, as they walked out of the Redmond Potter Gymnasium with a 60-50 win over the hosting Big Reds.
Muskegon had a lot of missed opportunities between missed layups, dunks and not passing to players that were wide open. Big Reds coach Keith Guy said “we didn’t play with any trust tonight, we didn’t trust each other and that’s the biggest thing that we have to work on.”
Curie jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead, a deficit the Big Reds were unable to overcome as the Condors led the entire game. That’s not to say Muskegon went down without a fight, as they got the game to 23-20 at halftime and 50-46 late in the fourth quarter.
However, Curie was able to pull away and seal the win with free throws in the final two minutes. Jarvis Walker led the Big Reds with 19 points.
The loss drops Muskegon to 2-1 as they will open up OK Black play against 5-0 Grand Rapids Union on January 10th.
