The Eagles of Calvary Christian, desperately seeking win number one on the season, fell short yet again tonight, this time to the hands of Muskegon Catholic as the Crusaders won 55-41 behind Jared Deugnar’s 31 point performance.
Calvary led 13-9 after one quarter, but failed to take the lead again, as the Crusaders led 28-20 at half and 49-28 after 3.
Muskegon Catholic got off to the season on the wrong foot following an 0-3 start, but with consecutive wins over Manistee and Calvary, the Crusaders now sit one game below .500 at 2-3.
In order to build on the win, MCC coach Lamar Jordan said “each day, each practice, we need to get a little bit better…we need to play the best basketball we can in March.”
It seems like the Crusaders are improving daily, while Calvary Christian still has a lot of work to do, as they are off to an 0-7 start. Eagles coach Michael Harris said “We have a very young team…we just need to try to motivate these guys to play at the level we know they can play.”
