Muskegon holds off Fruitport in OK Black matchup

If you saw both coaches following the Muskegon vs Fruitport game, you would’ve thought the outcome was the opposite. Trojans head coach Steve Erny said “it’s a step forward (in the program).” However, Muskegon coach Keith Guy said tonight was an “embarrassing effort” and that “we were awful, just awful”

The Big Reds had a comfortable lead the entire way, but the Trojans kept hanging in their and kept it within 10 for the most part. Muskegon led 21-12 after 1, 35-20 at half and 55-36 after 3. The closest Fruitport would get in the second half was 46-36 midway through the third quarter. Fruitport was hot from three point range, as 36 of the Trojans 50 points came from beyond the arc.

Jarvis Walker led Muskegon in scoring with 18 points, while Gavin Fisher led Fruitport with 16 points. The win advances the Big Reds to 8-1 and drops the Trojans to 4-5 on the season.
