Fruitport’s first quarter is probably the best they’ve played all season. They went up 19-6 and never looked back en route to a 49-42 victory where the Trojans never trailed. Oakridge rallied in the fourth quarter to make it a 6 point game, but were unable to hit key shots when it counted.
Fruitport coach Steve Erny said “This is March and you win or go home at this point. We did enough in this game to win.”
Leading scorers for Fruitport were Gavin Fisher with 12 points and Luke Mitchell with 10.
Fruitport will advance to the district semifinals against Whitehall on Wednesday, while Oakridge will end it’s season.
