The coronavirus pandemic has already done a lot of damage, including banning flights from Europe for 30 days, suspending the NBA season, cancelling most college classes for the near future and the NCAA tournament being continued without fans present. It was only a matter of time before it impacted high school sports in Michigan.
The MHSAA released a statement at 10 AM Thursday morning announcing that Friday’s district championship games will be held with limited fans. The only people allowed in attendance are players, coaches, referees, player parents or legal guardians, essential administrators and credentialed media members. Regular fans that do not fit the criteria above will not be permitted.
In the Muskegon area, teams playing in the district finals are Muskegon, Grand Haven, Fruitport, Spring Lake, Shelby, Muskegon Heights and Western Michigan Christian. As always, we will keep you updated on each of the games as we get updates via M7 Sports Twitter page.
